The Youth Haven Petting Barn is a highlight for the kids at each retreat. Here are a few of the animals you can find at our Michigan and Arizona petting farms, and some neat facts about each one!

Did You Know that cows' feet are hooved? Baby cows are called calves, and males are called bulls. Cows are good for meat, milk, and leather. This picture is of a cow named Norma.

Did You Know that male goats have beards and are called bucks or billy goats? Young goats are called kids. Goats' milk is just as good for you as cows' milk.

Did You Know that donkeys can live up to 50 years? A female is called a jennet or jenny, and a male is called a jack. Some kinds of donkeys can run 30 miles an hour. Our donkey in Michigan is named Hershey.

Did You Know that turkeys lay between 9 and 18 eggs at a time? The eggs have reddish brown speckles. The skin that hangs down from the neck is called the "wattle." Turkey meat is popular at Thanksgiving.

Did You Know that adult sheep can weigh up to 440 pounds? They can live up to 20 years. Males are called rams and females are called ewes. They produce wool, meat, and milk.

Did You Know that female rabbits can have 3 to 8 babies as many as 8 times a year? Rabbits can live up to 10 years. They warn each other of danger by thumping their feet on the ground.

Did You Know that baby ducks can swim shortly after they hatch? Males usually have brighter feathers than females. Mother ducks can lay between 4 and 12 eggs at a time.
